Parsha Tetzave

The Choshen Mishpat

Materials and Instructions: This project is meant to show how the Urim and Tumim ws connected to the Choshen. The colors for most of the gems can be found in the Midrash, the picture of the finished project reflects what we have found.

Purchase 1 purple or red felt sheet per child (WalMart 8x11 sheet 33cents), about an ounce of gold glitter (WalMart 99 cents enough for 10 kids), each child needs 12 craft gems, 1 package of assorted craft gems at ACMoore $3.99 for 52 gems can make 4 1/3 projects, gold ribbon can be about 45cents a yard enough for at least 1 project, Tacky Glue, and use of markers and scissors.. Total cost for project about $2.00 per child. If you substitute construction paper for the felt and color spots instead of gems but still put glitter around them, and substitute yarn for the ribbon, the project could cost less than a dime!

Fold felt sheet in half, and cut away excess felt so that both halves are square not rectangle. Glue edges of felt leaving a pocket from the top. With the Tacky Glue squeeze out 12 medium size globs 3 columns of 4 rows. Place assorted gems on each glob leaving a border of glue around each gem. Sprinkle gold glitter over each gem, let dry and shake of excess glitter. In the pocket of the that the child made put a nice card with the hebrew inscription Hashem Miforash Urim and Tumim.
