Click on picture to enlarge. This picture shows the back of the Adar face print out attached on one side to a blank piece of paper. The insert printout is on the right laying on top of the blank piece of paper. Notice the 2 popsicle sticks stacked on the bottom on the back side of the face printout on your left. The popsicle stick is also glued on to the insert printout above the popsicle sticks on the face printout. Everything is already measured just put the completed insert printout as shown. The other edge of the blank paper is glued before the insert printout is inserted between the 2 pages. Notice the top of the blank page has a loop sticking thru it. This project is much harder to explain than it is to do! |

Adar Simcha Face Materials and Instructions : Each child will need crayons or markers, four popsicle sticks, small piece of tape, small piece of yarn or pipecleaner, 2 paperclips, and scissors. Photostat the Adar face printout and the Face insert printout for each child. Have children cut out the three rectangular shapes on the face printout and cut along the outer back line on the insert printout. Glue a popsicle stick over the picture popsicle stick on the insert printout and a popsicle stick on the center of the bottom verticaly with half the popsicle stick sticking out like a handle.. On the back of the face printout glue 2 popsicle sticks one on top of the other at the center of the very bottom horizontaly. Take a blank piece of photostat paper and place a small piece of tape over the middle of the top of the blank paper, make a hole in the tape and put a little yarn thru this hole and make a loop with the yarn.Glue just the edges of this paper to the edges of the back of the face printout. After glue dries, place the insert printout page between the blank page and the face printout in such a way that the popsicle sticks on the face printout are lower than the horizontal popsicle stick on the insert printout. See picture! The popsicle sticks are used to prevent the child from pulling the insert out, the two popsicle sticks on the back of the face printout will not let the one horizontal popsicle stick of the insert printout go thru. Place paper clips in each cheek to provide a snug fit so that the frown stays in place unless pulled. The child pulls down the vertical popsicle stick of the insert printout and the face smiles, and the saying of the month of Adar appears in the face as well The child can then push the popsicle stick handle back up until he sees the frown again. With the yarn handle this "Adar Face" can be hung up. |
